Bandwidth, baud, and bps
These terms relate to the speed of your connection to the Internet. Bandwidth relates to the amount of information that can be sent in a certain time - the broader your bandwidth, the more information that you can send or receive in a shorter period of time. Text documents require relatively little bandwidth, while graphics and video require considerably more and take longer to transfer. Baud refers to the rate the modem can send or receive information, and is measured in bits-per-second, or bps. A bit is the smallest unit of computerized data: either a one or a zero.
