1. Select a school and apply for admission.
2. Go to www.FAFSA.ed.gov to complete the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for financial aid.
3. Receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) that shows what the government has determined your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) to be.
4. Receive an Award Letter from the school. Follow the school’s instructions for finalizing the loan processing or complete the Federal Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note or the Federal PLUS Loan Application and Master Promissory Note.
5. On the application, use the FirstMerit Lender Code: 808622.
