Direct deposit is a free service that allows regular deposits such as payroll and social security payments to be made electronically into your FirstMerit checking, savings or money market accounts.

Benefits of Direct Deposit

  • Save time: no need to drive to the bank to cash or deposit your check
  • Peace of mind: reduce the risk of losing checks or having checks stolen
  • Prompt payment: deposits are in your account on payday & funds are available that day
  • Savings: you can designate part of your pay to go directly to your savings account: calculate how quickly regular deposits can grow

Direct Deposit Options

Payroll check sign up process:

  • Step 1: Complete and print our direct deposit form
  • Step 2: Attach a voided check to the form
  • Step 3: Submit the completed form to your employer or third party making a direct deposit into your account
  • Step 4: Enroll in online banking for quick access to your accounts
